This weekend once again saw the DEFine team contributing to the Midland Railex event held over Saturday and Sunday at the Midland Railway Centre in Derbyshire. The purpose of this event is to raise money for the restoration projects being undertaken by the MRC, and to let people enjoy the facilities they have there.
The DEFine stand was located adjacent to the Shawplan stand so lots of goodies were munched and teas and coffees slurped. On Saturday we had Bill working away on his Colin Craig point kits for Glasgow Queen Street, Bertie was building some more Parkside kits for his rake of engineering stock and Pete was re-wheeling some JNA’s to P4 standards and weathering the wagons afterwards. This meant we had a good variety of work in progress and had quite a few people interested in what we were about.
On the Sunday Pete could not make it so it was down to Bertie and Bill to represent the group.
On Saturday night, as is customary, we were treated to some food and runs on the train thanks to our friends from Bachmann. After queueing up for a very nice burger it was then on to the first train of the evening for a beer. Having found the buffet car it was Oyster Stout all round! We were joined in our coach for the ride by Simon and Terry Bendal and we enjoyed a pleasant run up and down the extent of the line in both directions, hauled by some classic Class 25 traction.
